Most patients experience little to no pain. Acupuncture needles are much thinner than hypodermic needles — about the width of a human hair. You may feel a mild sensation of pressure, warmth, or tingling at the needle site, which is a positive sign that Qi is being activated. Most patients relax deeply during treatment and many fall asleep.
The number of sessions depends on your condition, its severity, and how long you've had it. Acute conditions may resolve in 3–6 sessions, while chronic issues typically require 8–12 or more. After an initial consultation, your practitioner will outline a personalized treatment plan with a realistic timeline. Many patients feel improvement after just 1–3 visits.
We accept BCBS Texas, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, and VA referrals. Many plans now include acupuncture benefits, particularly for pain management. Submit our insurance verification form or call 281-777-8688 with your insurance card ready and we'll verify your exact benefits before your visit — free of charge.
Your first visit includes a comprehensive intake interview covering your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. Your practitioner will examine your tongue and pulse — key diagnostic tools in TCM — before designing a treatment plan. The first session typically lasts 60–75 minutes. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and avoid a large meal right before.
Chinese herbal medicine has been refined over thousands of years and is generally very safe when prescribed by a qualified practitioner. However, some herbs can interact with pharmaceutical medications. Always inform your practitioner of all medications you are taking. Our licensed herbalists will formulate a safe, customized prescription specific to your constitution and condition.

Cupping is very safe when performed by a licensed practitioner. It typically leaves temporary circular marks that fade within 3–10 days. These are not painful and indicate improved circulation. Patients with certain blood conditions or skin sensitivities should inform their practitioner before cupping.
